Personal Information

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the ATM Midwifery Training Program (ATMMTP.) Education is completed via a variety of methods, including online academics, in-person workshops, and a minimum of a 24-month apprenticeship. While extremely rewarding, midwifery is a demanding career with great responsibility; be prepared to devote a significant amount of time over the next 3 - 5 years to your education.

Enrollment Pathway

This is the usual series of events that take place during the application process.

Step 1: Preliminary Application

  • Complete this Preliminary Application for Enrollment
    • Must have a valid driver's license
    • You must have a minimum of a high school or equivalent education
      • High school or homeschool transcripts or a GED certificate with exam scores will be accepted
          • A college transcript will be accepted in lieu of the above
    • must be a student member of the Association of Texas Midwives (ATM) - $30
    • Must pay the $150 application fee

Step 2:  Pre-Enrollments Requirements

Once you have completed the preliminary application, you will sent step 2 to complete.  Be prepared to provide the following items:

  • Proof of current healthcare provider CPR.  Will upload both the front and back of the card.  If e-cards are issued, upload a copy with all information necessary for our office to verify the course.  Be very cautious of courses that make claims of equivalency or pretend to be one of the courses listed below.  We will not accept any substitutes for one of the three approved courses listed below.  Certification must be one of the following:
  • Share link provided with 2 - 4 acquaintances (non-related) for letters of recommendation
    • While the ATMMTP may contact respondents to clarify or ask for additional information, it is not the responsibility of the ATMMTP to follow up when letters are not received.  Acquaintances must submit letters themselves.  We will not accept these letters from the applicants
    • We will not be able to move forward in the enrollment process until all Recommendation Letters are received
  • You will write and turn in an entrance essay

Step 3:  Once the applicant receives notice of acceptance

  • Orientation fee of $200 must be paid within 5 days of notice acceptance into the ATMMTP
    • After the Orientation fee is received, the school will create a student account and enroll the new student into the ATMMTP Orientation Module
    • Tuition for 101 or 102 must be paid within 10 days prior to the start of the modules
      • Payment can be made through your student portal
      • If tuition is not received within 10 days, the application will be set aside.  It will only be re-considered if there are still openings in the class following the deadline.
      • Orientation must be completed to be enrolled into ATMMTP

Additional Information

  • The program is to be completed (academics and clinical training) within 5 years of enrollment.  The ATMMTP is not responsible for students who do not complete the program within this time frame and will offer no refund other than those outlined in the Financial Agreement.  Students who fail to finish in the allotted time will still be responsible for the financial arrangements in the Financial Agreement
  • The ATMMTP is not responsible for arranging preceptors.  Securing a preceptor for clinical training may be difficult.  The ATMMTP will provide a list of current approved preceptors and it will be the student's responsibility to make acceptable arrangements for clinical training
  • Out-of-state students selecting the academics-only portion of the course must be approved by the Program Director.  Please contact the ATMMTP office for further instructions.

Questions

We are a distance program that relies heavily on your ability to read, understand what you read, and to follow written instructions.  Because of this, part of the acceptance process is evaluating your ability to follow the written instructions of this application, and later the essay.  It is very important to read the website and complete the application process carefully.  If you still have questions or there is something you do not understand, please do not hesitate to ask! We are here to help, but occasionally the "help" may be to refer you to a section of the website or the application instructions.
